BUSINESS OF THE YEAR is a business, business owner, or business professional who has had a positive impact on your life or on the Laurel community. Business must be a Laurel Chamber member.

Winners will be announced at the Laurel Chamber Annual Membership Meeting in January.

ALL NOMINATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED TO THE LAUREL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BY 12PM ON NOVEMBER 20, 2023.

Who can nominate? Anyone can nominate a member business, or you can nominate your own business. The chamber reserves the right to request two letters of reference from a third party.  Nominations will require a completed application to be considered.  Applications are judged by a committee.

Small Business of the Year Criteria

SMALL BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARD
1.   Nominee must be a member in good standing with the Laurel Chamber of Commerce.
2.   Nominee must be an active business with a location in Yellowstone County.
3.   Nominee must have been in business for at least 2 years.
4.   Nominee must have demonstrated one or more of the following characteristics:

  •  20 or fewer employees
  • Innovative products or services
  • Provides exemplary customer service
  • Encourages and provides professional development of staff.
  • Volunteers in the Laurel community

Large Business of the Year Criteria

LARGE BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARD
1.   Nominee must be a member in good standing with the Laurel Chamber of Commerce.
2.   Nominee must be an active business with a location in Yellowstone County.
3.   Nominee must have been in business for at least 2 years.
4.   Nominee must have demonstrated one or more of the following characteristics:

  • 20 or more employees
  • Innovative products or services
  • Provides exemplary customer service
  • Encourages and provides professional development of staff.
  • Volunteers in the Laurel community

    In selecting the award recipient, criteria considered includes:

    • It is obvious the Company has a policy to give back to the community.
    • There is broad participation from the employees, management and ownership.
    • The scope of contributions to the community by the business.

Citizen of the Year Criteria

CITIZEN OF THE YEAR AWARD

This award is designed to honor a citizen of the Laurel area who has performed outstanding service for the betterment of the community through participation in civic, political, charitable, business, educational or other activities, over and above normal work assignments.  The honoree will be chosen based on the following criteria:

  • The amount of personal effort involved by the citizen
  • The results of the citizen’s efforts
  • The extent of personal sacrifice
  • The degree of selflessness and sincerity of motivation
  • The uniqueness and originality of the citizen’s service
  • Although this award recognizes outstanding community service for the current year, consideration is given for contributions made by a resident in past years.
